FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
From the WCF Staff Team
If you're just joining us, or getting yourself into designing, you're going to have a lot of questions you want answered. So in this topic, we're going to cover some of the most frequently asked questions regarding the forum, designing and other information to help you along your way, here on WCF.
------------------------
HOW DO I MAKE A COVER?
Nine times out of ten, you found us by searching for wrestling DVD covers, since that's out main appeal and has been for the past eleven years. Maybe you wants to design your own covers but you don't know where to begin. Most of our designers here on WCF use Adobe Photoshop to design their covers. But there are other programs such as Jasc Paint Shop Pro and GIMP. Photoshop is highly recommended, being the more advanced design program out there. The key to making a good cover is layers and detail. You can find DVD templates in our Resource section to get you started.
CAN SOMEONE MAKE A _______ COVER?
If you are looking for a specific cover, or want to request someone design one for you, then you can do so in the Help & Request section. Remember to be polite and be patient.
WHAT ABOUT POSTING?
There aren't many rules when it comes to posting here on the forum, most of it is just common sense. We don't tolerate bullying, racism, homophobia or sexism, just like the rest of the rational thinking world. Swearing isn't prohibited, but try to tone it down, there's no need to swear in every single sentence. Also, try to type properly and correctly, none of this "$UP4 C£N@" speak, cos that just makes you look silly.
HOW CAN I UPLOAD A COVER?
Uploading a cover is simple. There are countless options to choose from, all providing a good service. Arguably the most popular is TinyPic, but there are many more such as imgur, ImageShack and Photobucket. Once you have uploaded your cover or graphic, post the direct link between the [*IMG] [*/IMG] tags (without the *) and post.
WHAT ABOUT PERSONAL PHOTOS?
You are not permitted to post personal photos of any other member or anyone not on the forum without their consent. However, you are free to post your own personal photos if you wish, providing they remain within the guidelines.
WHY HAVE I BEEN GIVEN A WARNING?
Warnings aren't given out for no reason. If you have been warned, then chances are you've broken one of our rules, and in most circumstances, you will be notified which one you have broken by the member of staff that warned you. You can be given warnings for being unnecessarily insulting towards another member, by being a nuisance on the board, by spamming, by linking to other forums or advertising, or abusing a staff member. Don't be that person.
HOW DO I CENTER MY SIGNATURE?
[*CENTER]Signature here, and remove the stars from the tags.[*/CENTER]
HOW BIG CAN MY SIGNATURE BE?
We allow signatures to be as large as 600x300px, and no more. This is simply because we don't want huge images slowing down the pages of the board. There's no need to have a huge signature, 600x300px is large enough.
HOW CAN I BECOME A MODERATOR?
Moderator positions are taken very seriously here on WCF. They aren't handed out to just anyone, and require a lot of dedication and effort from a certain individual. Asking for a Moderator position, while it isn't against the rules, won't get you anywhere unless you have proven your dedication to the board. Most of the time, the admins will come together and discuss potential staff changes when they are needed and look at the possibilities, and maybe even post up a topic, asking you to say your bit as to why you feel you would be good for our team. That being said, sucking up and constantly bugging admins to become a Moderator will only result in you being placed at the bottom of the list, so all we ask is that you stay active and do your bit, then who knows what may happen.
WHY CAN'T I ADVERTISE IN THE NOTICE BOARD?
It's like any forum or company, you just don't advertise the competition. Think of it in wrestling terms; you wouldn't see a WWE commercial on TNA, would you? Exactly.
WHY WAS MY ACCOUNT DELETED?
This could be a multitude of reasons. Accounts are deleted if they remain inactive with a post count of zero, as all that's doing is taking up server space. You may have also been deleted if you have caused trouble on the board to the point where the staff have seen no other alternative but to remove you. It is rare that we have to remove anyone for misbehaving, but it's not unheard of, so stay within the rules and you'll be fine.
WHY WAS MY TOPIC MOVED?
If your topic was moved, it was likely posted in the wrong section and a Moderator has moved it to the right one. However, if you feel it may have been an accident, you can always politely contact a Moderator and ask why it was moved and they'll be happy to explain.
------------------------
So those are the most frequently asked questions we get from newer members. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact a member of staff, and they'll be happy to help.
Thanks, and enjoy your stay!
