Hi everybody, this is my first thread/post in the new WCF. And yes, maybe it will also be my last one here. With this post I don't want just say hello, but also remember WCF since my arrival in the place that I considered my 2nd home, and express some considerations.
For those who don't know me, I joined WCF in 2007 when the website was very active and full of energy, and I never left. I remember a lot of good moments and memories since then, I made friends in this great community and I saw a lot of amazing covers and other stuff (I created a few covers and signs as well), all things that led me to love WCF. I thank all the guys and girls who have helped improving the community through the years, and I'm grateful for all the efforts spent on that cause. I'm also thankful for the attempt to resurrect WCF by creating this new website, unfortunately without success. That is really sad, considering also the fact that the guys "upstairs" threw in the towel for several months now.
I don't want to polemicize with the staff room, don't get me wrong, but I would like to make some examples. Before and after the creation of this new home for WCF I remember announcements of an imminent "Social media revolution" for our community, something that never really came to fruition. Sadly all the social media activities regarding this new website have stopped in August. I also remember the willing to switch from the current domain to just wrestlingcoverforum.com after the expiration of the old domain. Unfortunately nothing happened. Damn it, the SummerSlam discussion thread banner is still there...
When someone who runs a community like this loses faith in what he does, I think there's nothing that common users can do for save it.
I'm sorry to say this, but as things stand now, the creation of a new WCF it proved to be a total failure. Yes, the intention was surely to restart the things and give WCF a new life, but in my opinion I don't think it was really done everything it could be done for resurrecting this place. I add that I don't know if some old WCF user has not come to know about this new site, or if this new community deserved a bigger exposure towards all the previously registered WCF users. Anyway, I also understand that everyone has their own life.
These are thoughts and (bitter) considerations from a veteran user of a glorious community that today is the shadow of what it once was. Again, I don't want to polemicize with anybody, I'm an outspoken man so I had to say these things, but I'm sorry if I make someone angry with my words.
WCF seems to be coming to the end, but I will never forget this incredible community.
Cheers to everyone.

I was owner, I tried for many years, and was only ever really given backlash, you all praised Ben half the time when he wasn't around.
Didn't take long without me for the place to die, just saying, you all don't realize what you have til you fuck it off and treat it like shit, and then it leaves you high and dry.
I'd be happy to come back, but I was never even contacted about this move (another sign of disrespect), was never offered involvement.
Maybe all you cover nobs will realise now what the Asylum did for this place, and realise I was never trying to take anything away from anyone, but grow us so we didnt end up here where we are now, a shell of a former glorious place for wrestling fans and creative minds alike.
Forgive me if I sound bitter, but I put more work into this place than probably anyone ever, so it pains me to see it how it is, pains me to see the community shriveled and dead, one I had tried for so long to keep active and alive.
There is more than can be done, but you may be right, this move has seemed to do nothing good for WCF, and I'm still not sure why we moved...

lol @ you claiming to be the savior of WCF. I got more backlash and people chatting shit about me than you ever did.
The reason that we moved is because the old board had too much negative stigma attached to it - mainly due to the Asylum issues. You wasn't contacted because you were inactive. You can claim I wasn't around, but when it came to anything major that needed doing with the forum, I was always there and spoke with people.
Cover nobs? Charming. People signed up for the covers first and foremost. Nothing you say will ever change that. The Asylum was a byproduct of people doing covers at the same time. You had the open invitationals/title matches based around the WWE PPV at the time, which then upgraded to the Asylum brand split and subsequent rehashes.
And it was only because a select minority decided that because they wasn't into wrestling as much, they'd turn the Asylum into the "lets boost our Behance portfolios" area. And because some people actually cared about the forum that they didn't want the Asylum split from the forum, and those people who did want to branch off didn't get their own way all fucked off, leaving the place high and dry.
You can continue on your crusade about the Asylum and how it was popular Jared, but in all honesty, it was the most boring era in Asylum history. Who wants to see a trainer poster in a wrestling based forum? Nothing will ever touch the 2004/5 era for graphics and do you know why? They all contained wrestling stips.
You seem to forget all the work I put into the Invision board after Andy left, before we even moved to the .com, so lets not even go there about what you put into the place, we all worked hard at one point or another.
But I tell you who should be bitter. It's the likes of Elliot, Ben, Bland and The Game who did stick it out, and tried their hardest to keep things going, but when they saw that their efforts meant nothing to anyone, they themselves gave up the fight.
In closing, the forum died is because people never posted - plain and simple. It became evident that the majority of members were only interested in the resources to make covers with. You could see that when you wouldn't even get a page of comments about Raw or a PPV. And as much as people tried, it was all in vain.

Alright lets be fair then, sure we both got our fair share of slack I'll give you that. And I didn't come in here trying to claim to be the savior...
I was inactive for numerous reasons that really don't matter anymore.
Cover nobs, now lets be very clear there, I don't mean anyone and everyone that likes covers, I mean the small select few who were stuck on the idea that somehow a section that had no activity or progress in talent being displayed that was somehow the heart of this forum, and in some ways sure it was, but in the state it was in at the time, it was nothing. So yes, I feel those stubborn few were nobs, look at where we are now...
And I agree, for as much as the "boring era" of the asylum helped activity it wasn't what we are or should be about, but to remove the place completely has shown to be very effective...
I'm not on a crusade about the Asylum either, its just IMO something that was very important to the whole of WCF, if I am on any sort of Crusade its to bring this place back to that former glory you spoke of in the times after the invision board...
Your comments about Elliot, Ben, Bland, Game are all fair, but thats the same reason I left, and I had put up with it longer than all of them.
End of the day, I came here to make covers, of which there seems to be very little, and no resources. And I'd be more than happy to keep the wrestling discussion section up to date as that seems to be one major issue, things might take time, but it seems people gave up on this restart before it could really get off its feet...
So now if we could possible move away from the past, and look at how we might be able to make a future, then I'm here for any discussions, and to help with anything, but if we wana go over the past then I'm more than happy to do that too, but I think everyone would rather we put our efforts into the forum rather than fighting yes?

If that isn't someone putting themselves above the forum, I don't know what is.
Point is that you went AWOL Jared. At the time when we were discussing our options. We were paying for a dead forum, with a dwindling community and costs for me personally that were needed elsewhere. So we came to the conclusion that it would be wise to move to a free board to remove the financial burden and that way, if the eventual happened, which it has - then it would be easier on everyone.
People can take crit anyway they want - positive or negative. If they are happy making the covers they like then who are we to judge? The main point of the matter is that you keep trying to fight is that people signed up to WRESTLING COVER FORUM. It was the heart of the forum whether you like it or not.
Yes Jared, the Asylum was PART of WCF. The whole thing. What happened is people wanted to take the Asylum elsewhere/put preference on that over everything else. Not any interest in contributing in Wrestlefocus, The Locker Room - you know, other parts that make up the whole of WCF. Just the Asylum. And when people actually stood up and said that they didn't want it moved or give it preferential treatment, those select few who didn't get their own way threw a hissy fit and left. Some good members they ended up being hey? There was no former glory after the Invision board - at that point it was a bunch of people making portfolio pieces. There was nothing fun in that.
I can't believe that in 2016, we're still talking about Covers vs. Asylum. The shit that got us here in the first place.
You know how to make covers, so if you feel inspired to make one, make one. You know the web well enough to find resources.
We tried our best, but the majority of people have moved on. Forums come and go - not a lot we can do about that.

Sorry Jared, but you:
- Mention my name in your rant - Claim that you're the reason why WCF was so successful - Bring up all the old stuff up regarding the Asylum and the Covers - Call people making covers nobs
And you didn't expect any sort of response?
There isn't anything to do around here anymore Jared - everyone has gone.

Everyone seems to have gone because no one is doing anything, I'm going to be making graphics and covers anyway so I may aswell post them.. If I can find a decent scan of a recent cover or a template to work with..
And all I said about you was that people praised you when you weren't around, by the fact that you weren't around I'm not sure how you'd have the knowledge to really comment considering you weren't around and all for the times I'm talking about... I didn't say anything against you besides the truth. When you were active you were a great leader, when you weren't active and it was just me, people still saw you as the great leader. Thats all I was saying.
Now I won't be so egotistical to say that I was the sole reason this place was doing anything, but clearly my presence did something, as I left, and the place slowly died, I'm sure others left, but from my perspective, you can see how it looks.
And again I already clarified my comment about cover makers, so perhaps you should spend more time reading my comments correctly before jumping down my throat about things I essentially didnt say.
Now I'm here to help, if you've given up then what do you care?

Why would people do anything if there isn't anyone around?
Maybe it was because I actually did a good job and my reputation around the forum was a good one. We added additional admin so we didn't have to deal with the daily day to day running of the forum. I was always around. I just wasn't posting as much. You seem to take offense to that.
No Jared, you leaving was just an eventual thing. As soon as the Asylum thing was nixed, your heart was never in it after that.
Your comments regarding the cover makers were the same as they were before - that because you deemed that they weren't up to your standard, they didn't listen to crit, appear that they didn't want to get better, or basically, wasn't one of the Asylum boys, then they and the cover section should be put in the shadows. Naturally there will be people who are better at making covers than others. But that doesn't make those people with less ability's covers less valuable. It was those covers that made up the bulk of the covers back in the day.
To be honest, I was fine until you mentioned me on Facebook and then I get a notification on Facebook saying you've responded to a post of which then mentions me, and I felt it was worthy to respond.

The first thing is kinda a revolving door, no one posts because no one is doing anything, no one is doing anything because no one posts.. so lets just get past that...
And maybe I do take offense to all those times you were apparently there and just didnt post or help with anything, just lurked apparently, which is fine, I never had a problem with it, my problem is with you having a problem with me for having passion for this place or something?
My leaving actually had nothing to do with the Asylum, and you seem to think you know how I feel better than I do, just because I was passionate about the Asylum doesn't mean it was all I cared about, and perhaps the way I went about things with the cover makers back in the day was wrong, but I didn't bring up anything to do with their covers or abilities being worth less, I brought up their stubborn attitude and refusal to listen to any advice as being an issue. Again, look where we are now.
I love covers, its how I found this place, its why I stayed, just because I felt they should have been trying to rise themselves to a higher standard doesn't mean I didn't like or respect them. Again, my wording back then was probably far to harsh, and again, I'm just defending myself here, I just want to move past this and try and help, but you seem to think that there is no need, we could have been having this whole discussion about the latest NXT or something and who knows maybe some others would have joined in, but here we are, talking about the past... Because I responded to someone who asked a question about what happened.. I think in that circumstance I'm allowed to reference the past, I wasn't in any way trying to restart some old dead argument that has no point or purpose.
I mentioned you on Facebook because the forum seemed dead, nothing to really say why, you own he place, I merely asked where you were.. And I commented you here for the same reason, now it seems you've taken offense to something that was just me talking about my perspective in response to someones question.
Once again, if we could move past this that would be nice, I would like to help with activity around here, if you feel the place needs 100 members and we can't have a good discussion between a few hardcore fans of the business, then thats fine, but hopefully a few others will join in...
Seriously, I apologize if I offended you, was not my intention when I mentioned you, i sincerely want to see this place (or some form or it) alive and well, starting with the wrestling and covers.

It's just the reality of wrestling forums really. Eventually almost all slowed down to a crawl and some died as people moved onto other, more popular places. A friend on another forum when a similar thread popped up said it best "Why spend time on a site with a handful of people talking in a handful of threads about a handful of topics when I can be on a site with thousands, talking in thousands of threads about a thousand different topics?" And in the end you can have a niche like WCF did, two niches even but without that strong discussion you're not going to have a board that attracts the needed members. And we could have that, consistency in our discussions but most people who look at the site will have that "handful vs thousand" mentality. There's no reason to point the finger at anyone, if it wasn't the Covers vs Asylum drama, it would have been something else that split the community. Maybe if it happened a few years earlier WCF would still be thriving.
Only a few came over from the old site and even fewer actually committed to keeping this place alive; I'm guilty of not putting in enough to make the revival a success. The site means a lot, without WCF I probably would be studying something else. I'll post around more, I'll making a cover or two and try to get back into the swing of things.

A former owner just insulted the entire demographic of the forum past and present, and the current owner openly and publicly admitted that the forum is dead.
I'm not bitter, I just loved this place to death and don't really care anymore. You'd have to find someone special to still care. I reckon you have Valerio, and that's it.
Hope everyone is well, but I've seen Jared say he's here to help for the past 4 years and nobody ever included him or contacted him. I was guilty for that, too. Maybe if we listened to Jared and put aside his obvious cries for help where they've been posted, we may actually have a decent forum.
As if I'm still saying "we" lol.

Well, at least my thread created some movement. But it's not enough. I don't remember who, but an Admin said time ago that the new WCF was created because "the old forum was tarnishing the legacy of WCF". With all due respect, I think what tarnishes its legacy is also seeing WCF fall without do nothing. Despite all, someone in this thread reached out the hand to you Ben for doing something here, for the good of WCF, but at this point I'm not sure at all if you accepted or ignored this gesture.
